Thane Swachh Survekshan Award Is aimed at encouraging housing society’s & other organistion to adopt household and community – level waste management system as Decentralised citizen-driven initiatives. Most of the kitchen waste can be converted into compost. Named as ‘Compost Banao, Compost Apnao’,. Scientific processing of solid waste in Thane housing society’s areas is one of the key initiatives to win the prestigious award.

The contest is an attempt to encourage citizens to contribute towards making Thane city clean. The award encourage housing society’s to adopt household and community-level waste management systems where ever possible. Most of the waste can be converted into compost at the household or community-level itself. Points will be alloted to the house hold in a society participating in carrying out the compost process.
